Job Accelerator Grant Scheme
Program ID: 17960
Overview
This program aims to encourage South Australian businesses to employ additional full-time, part-time and casual employees, and maintain them for at least 12 months.

There are two type of grants available:
1. Job Accelerator Grant
- Up to $10,000 ($5,000 each year for two years) for each new full-time equivalent job created in small and medium businesses with a payroll between $600,000 and $5 million.

2. Job Accelerator Grant for Small Business & Start-ups
- Up to $4,000 ($2,000 each year for two years) per new job created are available for most businesses that are not liable for payroll tax. This includes businesses with Australian wages below the payroll tax free threshold (currently $600,000) and most organisations that are exempt from payroll tax (e.g. public benevolent institution).

For both grants the new staff member must be employed for at least 12 months, with the first half of the grant paid on the first anniversary date of employment, and the second grant paid on the second anniversary date. Businesses must register an additional employee within 90 days of the employee’s commencement date. There is no limit to the number of times a business can access the grant.

A total funding pool of $109 million will be available over three years starting 2016-17.

As announced in the 2017-18 State Budget, businesses that register a new employee for both levels of the Job Accelerator Grant (JAG) will receive an extra $5,000 if the person employed is an apprentice or trainee.

The new grant for apprentices and trainees will be backdated to July 2016, meaning that businesses that have already hired a new apprentice or trainee and registered them for a Job Accelerator Grant will be eligible for the increased payment.
